Overview

 

The Assistant Store Manager – Visual Merchandising is responsible for all management duties, with additional responsibilities as it relates to visual merchandising.

This role is pivotal in ensuring our store's visual presentation aligns with our brand standards and enhances the customer’s shopping experience. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for design, strong leadership skills, and a passion for home decor.

 

This role must have professional presence and courage. Must be able to communicate thoughtful feedback (opportunities, challenges and successes) to executive leadership and other business partners.

Responsibilities

 

Management Duties:

  • Assist the Store Manager in daily operations, including opening and closing procedures, staff scheduling, and inventory management.
  • Supervise and motivate store staff to achieve sales targets and maintain high customer service standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe store environment.
  • Handle customer inquiries and resolve any issues promptly and professionally.

Talent Development:

  • Supervise and motivate store staff to achieve sales targets and maintain high customer service standards.
  • Participate in training sessions for new employees and ongoing development for existing staff.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

Visual Merchandising:

  • Develop and implement visual merchandising strategies to enhance store presentation and drive sales.
  • Create and maintain visually appealing and on-brand displays per the brand’s visual merchandising direction.
  • Ensure promotional strategies are executed and maintained.
  • Monitor and analyze merchandising performance, making adjustments as needed to optimize product placement and presentation.
  • Collaborate with the Store Manager and visual merchandising team to plan and execute seasonal and promotional displays.
  • Execute changes in initiatives and direction appropriately and in a timely manner in order to drive results.
  • Train and guide store staff on visual merchandising standards and techniques.

Perform other duties as needed

Qualifications

 

  • 5+ years of retail experience desired, including management experience in multiple visual merchandising, operational and/or customer-facing roles, preferably in the home decor industry.
  • Strong visual merchandising skills with a creative flair.
  • Exceptional leadership with a focus on collaboration and results. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills 
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and managing profitability 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions 
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Proficiency in retail management systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week, based upon the needs of the business.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays and evenings.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to the other store locations and the Sales Support Center for meetings.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to ascend/descend a ladder to retrieve and stock products on the shelf or to hang overhead banners/ product.
  • Frequently positions self to retrieve and stock products in the stock room and sales floor and to place merchandise in bags.
  • Must be able to constantly move around the store for prolonged periods to greet and assist customers.
  • Must be able to frequently communicate with the customers in person, electronically, and telephonically.
  • Must be able to frequently move merchandise that is 50 pounds or more to and from the stock room to sales floor.
  • Must be able to operate a Point-of-Sale system, registers and handheld devices efficiently and accurately.
