Overview

Responsible for leading the creative development, execution, and consistent application of Kirkland’s Home brand strategy through design, photography, and art direction. This role maximizes the impact of advertising channels to drive sales and profit growth by leveraging competitive research, design expertise, and strong communication skills. The position partners with Marketing, Merchandising, and other business units to execute brand and product visionacross all creative touchpoints.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the brand’s overall creative development process, implementing standards, templates, and guidelines for all brand assets.
  • Provides creative art direction for graphic designers, ensuring alignment with brand identity and marketing objectives.
  • Directs photography and photo shoot art direction, including pre-production planning, on-set leadership, and post-production oversight to ensure visual consistency and storytelling.
  • Acts as a key member of the Marketing Leadership team, contributing to both reactive business needs and proactive trend-based initiatives.
  • Develops and implements efficient creative strategies to meet business goals through strong ideation and leadership.
  • Translates brand mission and vision into compelling creative across all media types—print, digital, social, packaging, and photography.
  • Communicates creative direction clearly to internal teams and provides actionable feedback from stakeholders to ensure timely project delivery.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally with departments to foster a culture of creativity, teamwork, and alignment with strategic goals.
  • Champions and embodies Kirkland’s Values in all creative work and team leadership.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in marketing, advertising, or design
  • 2–4 years of experience managing a creative team and providing art direction across multiple media types (print, digital, social, photography)
  • Proven experience in photography and photo shoot art direction
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a range of creative work, including graphic design and photography
  • Confident presenter of creative concepts to stakeholders
  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or related field preferred
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and creative production workflows
  • Strong sense of visual trends, fashion, and consumer behavior
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to sit at a computer for extended periods
  • Ability to travel periodically for photo shoots, store visits, or business needs
