Overview

The Manager of International Transportation will be responsible for managing the flow of all inbound merchandise imported from countries outside of the US, and ensuring the highest level of service, optimal routing, and reduced costs are achieved.  Directly supervises one (1) to three (3) coordinators/analysts, while having direct responsibility for $40+M annual spend.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and structures import operations in accordance with company direction
  • Responsible for all import transportation operations and costs, and the impact to other supply chain operations.
  • Responsible for procuring service providers and negotiating service contracts.
  • Develop and implement import transportation solutions to ensure optimal routing.
  • Develops and manages SOP’s and service standards by port of origin including purchase order management
  • Develops and reports key performance indicators necessary to manage the import orders
  • Partner with Sourcing team to ensure import operations enable growth.
  • Liaises with Supply Chain leadership to holistically align on supply chain objectives.
  • Liaises with Buyers on shipment issues and maintains current import quote sheets to assure accurate landed costs
  • Liaises with DC to create an understanding of workloads and plan labor accordingly
  • Updates and maintains the Vendor Alliance guide
  • Ensures ASN/data integrity in WMS
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 6 or more years of experience in Ocean importing (trans-loading background a plus)
  • Intermediate or better experience with Excel and creating reporting tools using data from other systems.
  • Must be detail oriented, respond to rapidly changing priorities, deal with multiple demands, good organizational and follow up skills, strong analytical aptitude
  • Great communicator verbally and in writing to be able to communicate and interact with people at all levels in and out of the company
  • Practical working knowledge of importing industry
  • Use sound judgment and good decisions making regarding routing, cost, and service level
  • Proficient use of PC including Office applications - Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to sit at a computer for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs
