The Assistant Copywriter will be responsible for writing detailed product copy, activating products, and assist the ecommerce team with other added value content on Kirklands.com. This role will interact with the eCommerce, Merchandising and Marketing teams to develop product copy that supports the eCommerce marketing strategy.       

• Craft clear and compelling product copy for product detail pages
• Create product names with simplicity and SEO value for customers at top of mind
• Activate/Deactivate product based on specific rules outlined by eCommerce team
• Update product copy on existing product detail pages as needed
• Ensure accurate information is completed for refinements to drive navigation for customers
• Ensure copywriting incorporates SEO (Search Engine Optimization) best practices
• Monitor and respond to product questions and negative reviews through our ratings and reviews platform
• Provide copywriting support for special projects
• Assist eCommerce team with ad hoc projects for Kirklands.com
• Demonstrates a commitment to Kirkland’s Values
• Performs other duties as assigned

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in English, Advertising, Marketing or related field
• Retail experience would be an asset, but not required
• Strong written and verbal communication skills required
• Strong ability to work in an accurate and organized manner, with strong attention to detail
• Strong ability to multi-task and work in deadline-driven environment
• Self-starter with high energy and initiative to take projects through to completion
• Familiarity with SEO (Search Engine Optimization) best practices
• Ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time
